The future president of the Oxford Union has been ousted from office after losing a no-confidence vote that followed his disputed social media posts about the conservative activist.

The vote against the student leader achieved the required super-majority to oust him from his position, according to an statement from the society.

Disputed Comments

The controversy began after Mr Abaraonye reportedly shared messages on online platforms that seemed to welcome the killing of Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead while addressing a university in Utah.

According to sources, one social media message reportedly read "Charlie Kirk got shot loool" - using an elongated version of the phrase 'lol'.

The student leader is also said to have posted in a WhatsApp chat with fellow students appearing to welcome the incident.

Election Results

The vote of confidence was conducted over the recent days, with outcomes announced on this week.

Official notices indicated that over twelve hundred votes were cast supporting removal, while 501 were against the motion.

The notice stated that the president-elect was considered to have resigned in following the Oxford Union's rules.

Procedural Disputes

Voting operations were informally suspended early on Monday after the election official was allegedly subjected to "obstruction, intimidation, and unwarranted hostility" from multiple individuals.

In a statement, Mr Abaraonye claimed that the vote tally had been stopped because electoral officials believed "no legitimate and true result could be reached as a result of process errors".

His statement categorically refuted that any representative appointed by George had engaged in threatening or obstructive conduct.

Ongoing Dispute

The student stated that extremely serious issues had been referred to the governing body and that he continued as president-elect.

His statement added that he was "grateful and honored to have the support of well in excess of a majority of university members" who supported a "secure voting process and resist attempts to subvert democracy".

Opponents have said that any failure to remove him would "demonstrate internationally that the Oxford Union has prioritized politics over principles".

External Responses

On recently, Mikey McCoy presented an public message to the Oxford Union on The Charlie Kirk Show broadcast.

The message criticized the society of becoming a institution where "student leaders openly applaud the assassination of a political opponent".

The statement warned that if the student were to keep his position, supporters would "personally contact every American political speaker who has ever spoken at the society and advise them against future participation".

The society had previously condemned the student's comments after the activist's killing and stated that concerns filed against him had been referred for official review.

The student leader had been one of multiple members to debate with Kirk at the union in spring.
